M-DCPS Workplace by Facebook Employee User Agreement


M-DCPS employees who wish to join the Workplace by Facebook collaborative platform must accept the terms and conditions of this user agreement prior to setting up their Workplace account.

I understand and agree:

  • use of the M-DCPS Workplace platform implies my acceptance of the M-DCPS Responsible Use Policy and Network Security Standards;
  • to comply with the requirements and restrictions set forth in School Board Policies 7540.04 and 7540.05;
  • my use of Workplace implies my full consent to continuous and ongoing monitoring of my use of Workplace for site security and management purposes and if inappropriate use is discovered (or determined that my use of Workplace is inconsistent with the site’s purpose as determined by M-DCPS administration or that is in violation of School Board policies, including Policies 7540.04 and 7540.05, State or Federal law, or that is prohibited by Chapter 815 of the Florida Statutes) will be considered a material breach of this Agreement and my access to Workplace may be revoked immediately;
  • should I fail to comply with the provisions of this user agreement, my privileges to access Workplace may be revoked and I may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal from further employment with MDCPS;
  • my access to and use of Workplace is a privilege and I am also aware that user activity may be monitored;
  • as an MDCPS employee my authorization to use Workplace will only be in existence during the time that I am employed by MDCPS. Should my employment with MDCPS cease or should there be a separation from employment, I will no longer be authorized to use Workplace;
  • M-DCPS reserves the right to terminate Workplace access at any time and for any reason;
  • acknowledged that this Workplace platform is intended solely for work-related collaboration and educational purposes;
  • M-DCPS may remove any content posted by me at any time, if it deems—at its sole discretion—that it is inappropriate or against School Board policy, and/or contrary to Workplace’s intended purpose;
  • M-DCPS is not responsible for inaccurate or erroneous information posted on Workplace, or for any loss of data resulting from information posted or from my use of Workplace;
  • Workplace is not a social network, but a work-related collaboration site;
  • Workplace is to be used by me solely for work-related purposes and that anything that I post on Workplace is employee speech that is not protected by the First Amendment;
  • MDCPS Workplace site is not an open forum and may not be used to post matters involving collective bargaining, employee personnel matters, employee complaints or personal grievances, or social or non-work related matters;
  • not permitted to post information that is confidential or not subject to public disclosure including, but is not limited to, personally identifiable student information and any information that is protected under the Family Educational Rights to Privacy Act (FERPA);
  • agree to retain any information that I may post until they are no longer required to be retained under the State of Florida’s retention schedules. In addition I agree not to delete my posts, comments, or replies as there are subject to the Florida Public Records Laws;
  • agree to indemnify the School Board should any post lead to suit or fines; and
  • agree to Facebook’s terms and conditions.

My use of Workplace shall also not be inconsistent with or be in derogation of my responsibilities and duties as a school district employee. For this reason, I will ensure that my use of Workplace will not detract from my daily instructional or classroom responsibilities, nor will my use of Workplace exempt or excuse me from fulfilling or completing my daily work duties.
